Berlin regional authorities respond to weapons seizures, airport disruptions, and mounting criticism over intelligence agency communication gaps.

Authorities in the German capital region dealt with multiple security developments involving airport disruptions, police searches, and intelligence oversight.

At Berlin Brandenburg Airport, police temporarily evacuated a terminal to inspect potential hazardous materials. In a separate incident at the airport, a 22-year-old traveler was remanded in custody after assaulting an employee when two late-arriving passengers were denied boarding.

In Berlin, special police unit Ferrum executed search warrants targeting four suspects, seizing a concealed handgun, live ammunition, a blank-firing pistol, and body armor.

Concurrently, scrutiny mounted regarding intelligence protocols after reports revealed that the Federal Intelligence Service failed to share critical information about the radical network of suspect Abdul B. with Berlin authorities prior to an attack.
