Authorities in Berlin and Brandenburg responded to airport security incidents and launched police raids against an illegal firearms ring.

Authorities across Berlin and Brandenburg have responded to a series of security incidents, including operations at the capital’s airport and citywide police raids.

At Berlin Brandenburg Airport, police temporarily cleared a terminal following reports of a potential hazardous substance. In a separate airport incident, a 22-year-old passenger was placed in pre-trial detention after physically assaulting an employee who turned away two late-arriving travelers at a boarding gate.

Meanwhile, Berlin law enforcement executed search warrants targeting an illegal firearms trafficking network. Officers from the special unit Ferrum raided several residential and commercial properties, seizing a concealed handgun, live ammunition, a blank-firing pistol, body armor, and digital storage devices. Multiple suspects were detained during the operation.
