The fourth Sarajevo Security Conference focused on drone threats and naval AI, while Bosnia announced two new defense factories.

The fourth Sarajevo Security Conference gathered over 300 defense experts and diplomats in Bosnia and Herzegovina to evaluate emerging regional and European security challenges. During the proceedings, EUROCONTROL Civil-Military Cooperation head Major General Karsten Stoye identified low-altitude drones as the primary new risk to European airspace management over the coming five years. NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten emphasized the growing operational role of unmanned surface vessels and artificial intelligence in modern naval warfare.

Concurrently, officials in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced plans to establish two new defense factories following a doubling of domestic military production over the past three years. The announcement coincided with the "First Balkan Shield 2026" defense exhibition in Sarajevo, featuring manufacturers from Slovenia, China, Turkey, Egypt, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
