International experts gathered in Sarajevo for a regional security summit as Bosnia and Herzegovina announced the expansion of its domestic defence sector.

The fourth Sarajevo Security Conference has brought together over 140 international diplomats, military leaders, and security experts to address emerging geopolitical threats across Europe. During the event, EUROCONTROL Major General Karsten Stoye warned that the proliferation of low-altitude uncrewed aerial vehicles represents the most significant new threat to European airspace safety over the next five years. Meanwhile, NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten highlighted the growing necessity of integrating artificial intelligence and autonomous vessels into maritime defence strategy.

Concurrently, officials from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced plans to open two new military manufacturing facilities following a doubling of domestic defence output over the past three years. The expansion was paired with the "First Balkan Shield 2026" defense exhibition in Sarajevo.
