EU extends sanctions against Russia following border train strike
The EU extended sanctions on Russia following a train strike, while US President Trump claimed both sides agreed to stop attacking energy targets.
The European Union has renewed sanctions against Russia following a military strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. European diplomats, including EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, condemned the assault as an effort to intimidate European nations and create internal divisions.
Simultaneously, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed both Moscow and Kyiv agreed to stop targeting energy infrastructure. Despite the reported pact, active combat continues along the frontlines. Shelling in Ukraine's Kherson region killed two people and wounded 14 others, while Ukrainian drone strikes in Russia's Belgorod and Sochi regions reportedly injured seven people. Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued an executive decree dismissing the country's prosecutor general.
