Experts at the Sarajevo Security Conference addressed growing drone risks while Bosnia and Herzegovina announced plans to open two new military factories.

The fourth Sarajevo Security Conference convened over 140 international diplomats, military leaders, and security experts to address emerging geopolitical risks across Europe.

During the event, EUROCONTROL Major General Karsten Stoye identified low-altitude uncrewed aerial vehicles as the primary new threat to European airspace safety over the next five years. Meanwhile, NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten emphasized the imperative of integrating artificial intelligence and autonomous surface vessels into naval defense strategies.

Concurrently, government officials from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced plans to establish two new military production facilities following a three-year period during which domestic defense output doubled. The industry showcased its expansion alongside international defense firms at the "First Balkan Shield 2026" trade fair in Sarajevo.
