Kosovo judiciary considers Serb judges' return as parliament sets opening session

Kosovo's Judicial Council reviews Serb judges' resignations as acting President Albulena Haxhiu schedules the new parliament's constitutive session.
Kosovo’s public institutions face key political and judicial steps as the Kosovo Judicial Council gathers to evaluate requests from Kosovo Serb judges and support staff seeking to withdraw resignations submitted in 2022. The review follows a request by acting President Albulena Haxhiu to resolve the matter, coming shortly after the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council rejected similar requests from Serb prosecutors.
Concurrently, Haxhiu announced plans to set the official date for the new assembly's constitutive session, noting that scheduling near the constitutional deadline manages procedural timelines triggered once parliament convenes.
In a separate court hearing, defense lawyers for Sami Lushtaku requested his acquittal, while Lushtaku maintained he has faced years of unjust persecution by EULEX authorities without evidence.
