Kosovo schedules assembly session as judicial decisions move forward

Kosovo's acting president has set August 6 for the assembly's constitutive session as judicial bodies handle Serb judge resignations and war crimes trials.
Kosovo’s acting President Albulena Haxhiu has scheduled the Kosovo Assembly’s constitutive session for August 6, providing parliamentary parties time to negotiate an agreement on electing a new president.
Concurrently, the Kosovo Judicial Council convened to review requests from Kosovo Serb judges and support staff seeking to withdraw their 2022 resignations, following a formal request by Haxhiu to resolve the issue. The review follows the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council's earlier decision to reject similar requests from Serb prosecutors.
In separate court proceedings, the Special Prosecution requested guilty verdicts for Sami Lushtaku and co-defendants, alleging they intimidated witnesses in the "Drenica" war crimes case. The defendants maintain their innocence and have asked the court for an acquittal.
