128 UN member states defined autonomous weapons in Geneva, as Germany updates military AI frameworks and NATO co-develops targeting models with Ukraine.

In Geneva, 128 United Nations member states established a standardized definition for autonomous weapon systems. Following the agreement, the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross warned that machine-led targeting risks "crossing a moral red line," calling for binding international rules.

Concurrently, Germany's defense ministry confirmed that military framework papers permit semi-autonomous functions operating without continuous step-by-step human intervention, maintaining that ultimate force decisions remain human-driven. Additionally, Germany rejected adopting software from US firm Palantir, opting instead to build a sovereign AI data analysis platform.

Meanwhile, Ukraine and NATO have jointly developed two operational AI models to forecast hostile drone trajectories and streamline artillery targeting support.
