UN member states have agreed on a definition for autonomous weapons, while European militaries advance operational AI systems.

In Geneva, 128 United Nations member states agreed on a formal definition for autonomous weapon systems, prompting the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross to warn that machine-led targeting risks "crossing a moral red line."

Meanwhile, European military AI adoption continues to expand. New concept documents reveal Germany's armed forces may allow semi-autonomous weapon systems to perform specific operational actions without direct human intervention, though a defense spokesperson reiterated that "the decision on the use of military force remains with humans." Germany also rejected commercial software from US contractor Palantir in favor of developing an internal AI data analysis platform.

Additionally, Ukraine and NATO have co-developed two AI applications to forecast hostile drone trajectories and optimize artillery fire support.
