Data from Turkish civil rights groups details August gender-based violence, alongside judicial developments in a Siirt murder case.

Independent Turkish media and civil rights organizations published August data detailing gender-based violence across the country.

According to news portal Bianet, men killed at least 25 women and injured 71 others during the month. Separately, the We Will Stop Femicide Platform recorded 22 femicides and 33 suspicious female deaths in August. The platform reported that 55 percent of the victims were murdered inside their homes, primarily by spouses or acquaintances, with motives including personal decisions or remaining undetermined.

In legal developments, state broadcaster TRT Haber reported that the Siirt 1st High Criminal Court accepted an indictment against five suspects regarding the 2024 murder of a mother of four. Prosecutors relied on digital footprints, telecommunication records, and license plate tracking to charge the victim's former husband, former father-in-law, former brother-in-law, and two other defendants.
