Rights groups in Turkey report dozens of women were killed or injured in August, while prosecutors in Siirt indict five suspects in a murder case.

Rights organizations and independent media outlets in Turkey have published data on gender-based violence for August. According to the We Will Stop Femicide Platform, 22 women were killed and 33 died under suspicious circumstances during the month, with over half of the fatal incidents occurring inside victims' homes. Separately, monitoring by independent news site Bianet recorded at least 25 women killed and 71 injured by men during the same timeframe.

In Siirt province, judicial authorities accepted an indictment against five individuals in connection with the death of a mother of four who went missing in late 2024. Investigators used telecommunications data, digital tracking, and technical surveillance to establish that the victim had been murdered, resulting in charges against her former husband, father-in-law, and brother-in-law.
