Rights groups in Turkey published August femicide figures, while prosecutors in Siirt indicted five suspects in a 2024 murder case.

Rights organizations and monitoring groups in Turkey have released data on gender-based violence for August. According to the We Will Stop Femicide Platform, 22 women were killed and 33 died under suspicious circumstances during the month, with 55 percent of homicides occurring inside victims' homes. Independent news outlet Bianet separately reported that men killed at least 25 women and injured 71 others during the same monthly period.

In Siirt province, judicial authorities accepted an indictment against five suspects linked to the murder of a mother of four, identified as Akyel, who disappeared in October 2024. Investigators unraveled the case through digital evidence and telecommunications tracking, charging her former husband, ex-father-in-law, and ex-brother-in-law.
