The EU extended sanctions against Russia following border strikes, while casualties were reported in Kherson, Belgorod, and Sochi.

Fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces continued across several regions despite claims by U.S. President Donald Trump that both nations agreed to refrain from targeting energy infrastructure. Shelling in Ukraine's Kherson region left two people dead and 14 injured, while drone strikes wounded seven individuals in Russia's Belgorod and Sochi regions.

In response to escalating hostilities, the European Union extended its sanctions regime against Russia. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned a Russian attack on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border, describing it as an attempt to divide European allies.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued an executive decree dismissing the nation's prosecutor general.
