Rights monitoring groups in Turkey recorded at least 22 femicides in August, while Siirt prosecutors indicted five suspects in a separate murder case.

Rights monitoring bodies in Turkey have released data detailing gender-based violence for August, alongside developments in a historical murder investigation in Siirt province.

According to the We Will Stop Femicide Platform, 22 women were killed and 33 died under suspicious circumstances during the month, with over half of the fatal incidents occurring inside victims' homes. Separate monitoring by independent news website Bianet recorded at least 25 women killed and 71 injured by men during the same timeframe.

Meanwhile, the Siirt 1st High Criminal Court accepted an indictment against five suspects in connection with the October 2024 disappearance and murder of a mother of four. Prosecutors established the crime using telecommunications data, digital footprints, and technical surveillance, leading to charges against the victim's former husband, father-in-law, and brother-in-law.
