Independent monitoring groups in Turkey have released August figures on gender-based violence, as legal proceedings move forward in a prominent murder case.

Newly released data from Turkish civil rights organizations highlights ongoing gender-based violence across the country.

According to monitoring by the news outlet Bianet, men killed at least 25 women and injured 71 others during August. Concurrently, the We Will Stop Femicide Platform documented 22 femicides alongside 33 suspicious deaths of women. The platform noted that over half of the victims were murdered inside their homes, primarily by husbands or acquaintances, with motives ranging from personal life decisions to undetermined causes.

Meanwhile, judicial proceedings continue regarding past violence. State broadcaster TRT Haber reported that prosecutors in Siirt filed charges against five individuals connected to the murder of a mother of four. The court accepted the indictment after investigators utilized telecommunications and digital tracking data to trace the victim's former relatives and associates.
