Rescue operations continue along the Nepal-Tibet border following a catastrophic glacial collapse, with reported casualty figures varying widely.

Search and rescue operations are intensifying along the border between Nepal and Tibet following a glacial collapse that triggered catastrophic flash flooding on Wednesday. A massive wall of mud and rock swept into a Himalayan river, destroying villages, roads, and power installations across the region.

Casualty figures and missing person estimates remain inconsistent across media reports. The Guardian and STV News report at least 165 fatalities in Nepal and three in Tibet, with total missing counts exceeding 1,000 to 1,300 people, including hundreds of foreign nationals. France24 initially cited a lower toll of at least 22 deaths in Nepal, while Chinese search operations focus on the Gyirong border area. Meanwhile, the Sweden Herald reported that the combined death toll has passed 390, with over 1,400 individuals unaccounted for.
