Rescuers in Nepal and Tibet search for over 1,000 missing people after catastrophic flash floods killed at least 469 in Nepal, destroying vital regional infrastructure.

Search and rescue operations are continuing across the Himalayan border region between Nepal and Tibet following catastrophic flash flooding caused by a massive mud and rock collapse into a river on Wednesday.

Nepalese police confirmed the domestic death toll has reached 469, while Chinese authorities have reported three fatalities in Tibet. Between 1,000 and 1,500 individuals remain unaccounted for, including hundreds of foreign workers and tourists from nations such as the United Kingdom, the United States, India, Australia, Malaysia, and Ukraine.

Emergency crews are navigating damaged infrastructure, destroyed bridges, and difficult terrain to locate survivors while facing ongoing risks of secondary flooding. Local authorities report extensive damage to residential areas, roadways, and hydroelectric projects across affected valleys.
