Rescuers in Nepal and Tibet continue searching for up to 1,500 missing people following catastrophic flash floods along the Himalayan border.

Search and rescue operations are continuing along the Himalayan border between Nepal and Tibet following catastrophic flash floods caused by a glacial collapse. Fatality estimates have fluctuated as emergency teams reach remote communities, with Nepalese police updating the domestic death toll to 469, while earlier reports cited figures ranging from 22 to 390. Chinese officials have reported at least three deaths on the Tibetan side of the frontier.

Between 1,000 and 1,500 people remain missing across the region, including hundreds of foreign tourists from Britain, India, the United States, Australia, Malaysia, and Ukraine. Raging floodwaters, mudslides, and debris have destroyed villages, roads, and hydroelectric power plants, severely hindering rescue efforts and raising concerns over potential secondary flooding.
