Sarajevo hosts the 2026 security conference as regional leaders highlight drone threats and Bosnia and Herzegovina announces the expansion of its defense industry.

The fourth Sarajevo Security Conference has convened in Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing together over 300 international defense, diplomatic, and security experts to address European security challenges.

Discussions highlighted the growing influence of uncrewed technologies across military and civil domains. Major General Karsten Stoye of EUROCONTROL identified low-altitude drones as the primary emerging threat to European airspace safety over the next five years. Concurrently, NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten emphasized the integration of artificial intelligence and uncrewed platforms in modern naval strategy.

In parallel with the summit, officials from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced plans to expand domestic military manufacturing following a doubling of production over the past three years. Two new defense production facilities will open shortly to enhance export capacity and support regional defense.
