Search and rescue operations intensify along the Nepal-Tibet border as the death toll from catastrophic flash floods reaches 469.

Search and rescue operations are intensifying along the Himalayan border between Nepal and Tibet after a catastrophic glacial collapse triggered severe flash floods. Nepali authorities reported that the domestic death toll has climbed to 469, while Chinese officials confirmed three fatalities in Tibet.

Estimates of missing persons range from 1,000 to 1,500, including hundreds of foreign tourists and workers. Raging floodwaters destroyed entire villages, roads, water supply lines, and hydroelectric facilities across the border region. Emergency workers face severe obstacles from ruined infrastructure and the ongoing threat of secondary flooding as they attempt to locate survivors in isolated settlements.
