Hungary's Transport Ministry recovered 2.27 billion forints from toll contracts and expanded its investigation into procurement deals involving IT entrepreneur Gábor Emőri.

Hungary's Ministry of Transport and Investments has recovered 2.27 billion forints from a private equity fund linked to businessman Lőrinc Mészáros following an audit of state electronic toll collection contracts.

Transport Minister Dávid Vitézy confirmed the recovery, which follows an investigation into 64.5 billion forints' worth of toll entity acquisitions completed under former minister János Lázár.

Following the financial recovery, Hungarian authorities expanded their audit to examine public procurement deals awarded to IT entrepreneur Gábor Emőri, who spent 12 years developing and operating core components of the national toll network. Officials are continuing to review historic state agreements to identify further irregularities.
