Hungary's transport ministry recovered 2.27 billion forints from a toll deal and expanded its audit to legacy IT infrastructure contracts.

Hungarian Transport and Investment Minister Dávid Vitézy announced that a private equity fund associated with businessman Lőrinc Mészáros has returned 2.27 billion forints to the state treasury. The reimbursement follows an ongoing audit into a 64.5 billion forint transaction involving three electronic toll companies negotiated under former minister János Lázár.

Following the recovery of funds, government scrutiny has turned toward IT entrepreneur Gábor Emőri, who spent 12 years developing and operating key infrastructure for the national toll system. State officials are now auditing legacy procurement deals to evaluate whether additional public funds can be reclaimed from past contracts.
