Hungarian auditors are broadening scrutiny into historical electronic toll contracts following a 2.27 billion forint reimbursement.

Hungarian authorities are expanding an audit of national toll system contracts following a 2.27 billion forint reimbursement by a private equity fund associated with businessman Lőrinc Mészáros. Transport and Investment Minister Dávid Vitézy stated that the repayment forms part of a broader review into a 64.5 billion forint acquisition executed under former minister János Lázár.

Government investigators are now scrutinizing contracts with IT entrepreneur Gábor Emőri, who spent 12 years developing and operating core components of the national electronic toll network. Officials are examining historical agreements to determine whether additional public funds should be returned to the state.
