Croatian pilots join firefighting efforts in France amid expanding wildfires

Croatian pilots have deployed to France as firefighters combat spreading European wildfires that have displaced over 160,000 people across France and Spain.
Croatian military pilots have been deployed to France to support international efforts against expanding wildfires across Western Europe. Croatian Defense Minister Ivan Anušić confirmed he remains in continuous communication with the crews operating alongside French emergency services.
Anušić noted that while blazes in the region are expanding, the deployment is operating effectively and situation on their mission is "under control." The international assistance comes as extreme conditions trigger widespread evacuations. Over 160,000 residents in France and Spain have been displaced since mid-week, with French officials ordering additional overnight evacuations across seven municipalities near Bordeaux. Meanwhile, Spanish emergency declarations remain in effect near Madrid and Ávila, and Scottish crews continue tackling a major wildfire in Cairngorms National Park.
