Wildfire evacuations in France and Spain exceed 300,000 as blazes spread

Wildfires in France and Spain have displaced over 300,000 residents, with high winds pushing severe blazes toward Bordeaux.
Wildfires across Southwestern Europe have forced more than 300,000 residents to evacuate their homes in France and Spain as severe conditions persist.
In southwestern France, strong winds are driving blazes toward the city of Bordeaux. Local authorities ordered an additional overnight evacuation of 55,000 people, pushing the total number of evacuees across the Gironde and Landes regions to approximately 250,000. Flames have now consumed roughly 100,000 hectares of forest in the country.
The situation remains critical alongside earlier emergency measures across Europe. Spanish emergency declarations remain in place near Madrid and Ávila, while Scottish firefighters continue efforts against a major wildfire in Cairngorms National Park. International teams, including Croatian aerial firefighters, remain deployed in France to assist local emergency crews.
