Emergency crews in Nepal and Tibet search for over 1,000 missing people after a catastrophic glacial flood devastated border communities.

Rescue teams across Nepal and Tibet continue searching for more than 1,000 people unaccounted for following a massive glacial collapse that triggered sudden flash flooding along the Himalayan border. Nepalese authorities reported that the confirmed death toll in Nepal reached 469, while Chinese state media reported three fatalities in Tibet.

The deluge destroyed entire villages, roads, bridges, and hydroelectric infrastructure, stranding hundreds of foreign tourists and local residents. Heavy damage to transport and communication links continues to hinder emergency operations, while officials warn of potential secondary hazards from unstable riverbanks. International search efforts remain focused on locating hundreds of missing foreign nationals, including travelers from India, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
