Russia's Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by the liberal opposition party Yabloko, barring the sole anti-war party from competing in the September parliamentary elections.

Russia's Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by the liberal opposition party Yabloko, barring the group from running in the upcoming September parliamentary elections.

The verdict follows a legal challenge initiated by the pro-Kremlin nationalist party Rodina, which accused Yabloko of extremism, copyright violations, and foreign ties. As the sole legally registered political movement actively advocating for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine, Yabloko's disqualification leaves anti-war voters without an official alternative on the State Duma ballot.

Following the decision, demonstrators gathered outside the Moscow courthouse chanting "Shame! Shame!". Party leadership announced intentions to continue contesting the exclusion through judicial supervisory appeals.
