Trump administration rejects ammunition shortage claims amid regional tensions
Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth have dismissed reports of depleted US ammunition stockpiles while troop fatigue concerns and conflicting claims over Iran talks persist.
The White House and the Pentagon have rejected assertions that United States ammunition stockpiles have become critically depleted during ongoing operations linked to Iran. President Donald Trump insisted that the military maintains ample reserves and threatened harsh legal penalties for those circulating claims of shortages. The statements followed reports suggesting that depleted missile inventories had constrained recent operational options.
At the same time, prolonged deployments in the Middle East have triggered concerns over service member fatigue and morale, particularly among thousands stationed aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.
On diplomatic matters, Trump stated that discussions with Tehran have restarted, framing them as a final opportunity to finalize an agreement. Iranian authorities had previously denied that any talks were scheduled or underway.
