Russia's Supreme Court has barred the liberal anti-war party Yabloko from the upcoming parliamentary elections following a lawsuit from a pro-Kremlin nationalist party.

Russia's Supreme Court has prohibited the liberal opposition party Yabloko from contesting the upcoming State Duma elections, removing the country's sole registered anti-war faction from the ballot.

The ruling upheld a legal challenge submitted by the nationalist Rodina party, which raised allegations regarding campaign rules, copyright violations, extremism, and foreign ties. Yabloko, which has consistently advocated for an immediate ceasefire and diplomatic negotiations regarding the conflict in Ukraine, condemned the ruling and announced intentions to appeal.

Demonstrators gathered outside the Moscow courthouse following the announcement to protest the decision, which leaves voters opposed to the war without an official electoral option for September.
