Russia warns West over ship seizures as North Korean missile unit deploys

Putin warns of retaliation over seized ships, Kyiv reports North Korean missile units in western Russia, and analysis details the FSB's expanding domestic authority.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned Western governments of potential retaliatory measures following the seizure of Russian commercial vessels, describing the maritime actions as "piracy" during remarks aboard a naval ship.
Simultaneously, Ukrainian military intelligence official Andrii Cherniak reported that an estimated 90-member North Korean missile unit is deploying to Russia's Voronezh region. The detachment is expected to operate six launchers armed with approximately 120 ballistic missiles intended for strikes against Ukraine.
Additionally, investigative journalist Andrei Soldatov assessed that the Federal Security Service has secured unprecedented domestic influence since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, noting that the Kremlin relies increasingly on the intelligence service for societal control and regime stability.
