Wall Street Journal report highlights ethical concerns over US envoy's role in Albanian gas deal

A report into US Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle raises questions over her role in a $6 billion energy deal involving Greek firm Aktor and Albania.
US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle and her advisor, energy lobbyist Christos Marafatsos, face scrutiny following an investigation into their involvement in a $6 billion natural gas agreement in Albania.
Reports indicate that Guilfoyle visited Tirana in March to meet Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by Marafatsos and an executive from Greek infrastructure group Aktor. She returned the following month to attend the official contract signing aimed at supplying gas to Albania.
The investigation raises questions regarding potential conflicts of interest, as Marafatsos advises the US envoy while simultaneously lobbying for private commercial energy firms across Europe. Regional authorities and diplomatic representatives have not issued public comments regarding the allegations.
