Border crossings between Poland and Ukraine reopened following a Russian drone strike, while Kyiv navigates contrasting historical disputes with Warsaw and Budapest.

Border traffic between Poland and Ukraine has resumed following temporary closures caused by a Russian drone strike on a truck near the Dorohusk-Jahodin border crossing. The attack occurred during broader Russian strikes across western Ukraine over the weekend.

Concurrently, historical grievances continue to impact Kyiv’s regional diplomacy. Polish President Karol Nawrocki recently revoked a state distinction from a Ukrainian official in response to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky bestowing an honorific linked to the Ukrainian Insurgent Army on a military unit.

In contrast, bilateral ties between Hungary and Ukraine saw progress on historical memory. Budapest welcomed a new resolution by the Ukrainian parliament condemning Soviet-era forced labor and historical anti-Hungarian actions in Transcarpathia, offering to cooperate on joint initiatives.
