Hungarian Minister Dávid Vitézy announced the recovery of 2.27 billion forints from a toll system deal, as authorities expand scrutiny to past procurement contracts.

Hungarian Transport and Investment Minister Dávid Vitézy announced that a private equity fund linked to businessman Lőrinc Mészáros has returned 2.27 billion forints to the state treasury. The reimbursement follows an official review of a 64.5 billion forint transaction executed under former minister János Lázár, involving the state acquisition of three electronic toll system operators.

Following the financial recovery, government authorities expanded their investigation to examine historic procurement contracts connected to IT entrepreneur Gábor Emőri. Emőri played a central role in developing and managing Hungary's national toll infrastructure over a 12-year period. Officials are currently evaluating whether additional public funds from past toll management agreements can be reclaimed by the state.
