Hungarian authorities expanded an audit into historic toll contracts involving IT entrepreneur Gábor Emőri after recovering 2.27 billion forints from a Mészáros-linked fund.

Hungarian Transport Minister Dávid Vitézy announced that a private equity fund associated with businessman Lőrinc Mészáros reimbursed 2.27 billion forints to the state treasury. The repayment followed an official audit into a 64.5 billion forint transaction negotiated under former minister János Lázár to acquire three electronic toll management entities.

State investigators have since broadened their financial inquiry to target Gábor Emőri, a prominent IT entrepreneur who developed and helped operate Hungary's national electronic toll network for twelve years. Authorities are reviewing historical state contracts to determine whether additional public funds can be reclaimed from previous toll administration agreements.
