Hungary expands its toll network probe to technology entrepreneur Gábor Emőri after recovering 2.3 billion forints from a Mészáros-linked fund.

Following the repayment of nearly 2.3 billion forints by a private equity fund connected to businessman Lőrinc Mészáros, Hungary’s transport ministry has expanded its probe into the country's electronic toll network.

Transport Minister Dávid Vitézy confirmed the reimbursement came after an official audit of previous state acquisitions worth 64.5 billion forints, signed under former minister János Lázár. The investigation has now shifted toward state contracts awarded to technology entrepreneur Gábor Emőri, who spent 12 years developing and operating software components for the system.

Officials are evaluating the long-term operational framework and financial terms governing the toll collection infrastructure.
