German authorities are searching for a suspect linked to Islamist networks after a vehicle struck a crowd at Berlin's Pride parade, leaving one dead and 16 injured.

German law enforcement agencies are searching for an identified suspect with alleged ties to Islamist networks following a fatal vehicle attack at Berlin's Christopher Street Day parade on Saturday night.

A white vehicle drove into a crowd in Tiergarten park, killing one person and injuring at least 16 others, including three who remain in critical condition. Unconfirmed media reports also indicated potential knife attacks during the incident. Police halted the celebration shortly before 10:00 p.m. as emergency crews responded. The suspect fled the scene on foot and remains at large.

Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner described the event as "an attack on our free and open society". Investigations into the suspect's exact motive remain ongoing.
