German police kill suspect following fatal Berlin Pride vehicle ramming
German police have shot and killed a suspect after a van drove into a crowd at Berlin's Pride parade, killing one person and injuring 16 others.
German authorities are investigating a suspected extremist vehicle attack after a white van drove into a crowd during Berlin's Christopher Street Day parade near Tiergarten park, killing one woman and injuring 16 others.
Police subsequently shot and killed the primary suspect, identified as 21-year-old German citizen Abdul Ballout, in the Spandau borough after he confronted officers with a knife during a citywide manhunt. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that initial findings strongly suggest an "Islamist attack." Federal and local law enforcement continue to examine the suspect's background and potential accomplices as security measures across the capital remain heightened.
