German police are searching for a suspect with alleged Islamist ties after a vehicle struck a crowd at Berlin's Christopher Street Day, leaving one dead and 16 injured.

German authorities are searching for a suspect with alleged Islamist ties following a vehicle attack at Berlin's Christopher Street Day in Tiergarten park on Saturday evening.

A white vehicle drove into a crowd, leaving one person dead and 16 others injured, including three in critical condition. Police are also investigating reports that several victims sustained stab wounds. Organisers suspended the Pride event shortly before 10:00 p.m. while emergency responders treated casualties and secured the area.

Although the perpetrator fled on foot, law enforcement confirmed that a suspect has been identified, though no arrest has been made. Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner called the incident "an attack on our free and open society". Police investigations into the suspect's whereabouts and motives remain ongoing.
