German police kill suspect following fatal Berlin Pride vehicle attack
German police have killed 21-year-old suspect Abdul Ballout following a fatal vehicle ramming at Berlin's Pride parade that left one dead and 16 injured.
German police have shot and killed 21-year-old suspect Abdul Ballout following a vehicle attack at Berlin's Christopher Street Day parade late Saturday. Authorities stated Ballout, a German citizen of Lebanese background, was killed in the western district of Spandau after confronting officers with a knife during a citywide manhunt.
The incident occurred near Tiergarten park when a white van drove into a crowd, leaving one woman dead and 16 other people injured. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt indicated that initial findings point toward an "Islamist attack." Federal and local law enforcement agencies have launched a joint investigation into Ballout's background and potential extremist connections to determine his motivation.
