German police hunt suspect after deadly Berlin Pride attack
One woman died and 16 were injured when a vehicle rammed into a crowd at Berlin's CSD Pride event. German police are conducting an intensive manhunt for the driver.
German law enforcement agencies are continuing an intensive manhunt following a vehicle attack at Berlin's Christopher Street Day celebration on Saturday night. Authorities reported that a white transport van drove into a crowd near Tiergarten park shortly before 10:00 p.m., killing a woman and injuring 16 others, three of whom remain in critical condition.
The annual Pride event was halted as emergency personnel responded to the scene. Although the driver fled on foot, investigators have identified a suspect reportedly connected to Islamist circles, though no arrest has been made yet. Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner described the incident as "an attack on our free and open society". Investigations into the suspect's whereabouts and motives remain ongoing as police search the capital.
