German interior minister classifies Berlin Pride ramming as an Islamist attack
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that evidence points to an Islamist attack following Saturday's deadly vehicle ramming at Berlin Pride.
German law enforcement agencies have expanded search operations across the capital following Saturday night's vehicle ramming at Berlin’s Christopher Street Day festival. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated on Sunday that "everything we are seeing here shows that we are dealing with an Islamist attack."
The incident occurred around 22:00 local time near Tiergarten park when a white van was driven into a crowd, killing one woman and injuring 16 others, several of them critically. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Berlin and federal police forces are jointly conducting the manhunt for the suspect. Festivities were immediately suspended following the collision.
