Former Ukrainian defense minister calls for post-war election preparations

Former Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has urged Kyiv to begin technical preparations for post-war democratic elections.
Former Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has called on Kyiv to begin technical preparations for post-war democratic elections. Dismissed by President Volodymyr Zelensky in July, Fedorov emphasized that establishing administrative voting frameworks now is essential to ensure participation for frontline soldiers, displaced citizens, and overseas refugees once hostilities cease.
Under Ukrainian law, holding elections is prohibited while martial law remains in effect. While President Zelensky’s administration continues to focus on immediate military operations, Fedorov warned that failing to address logistical challenges in advance could cause significant delays to Ukraine’s democratic processes after the conflict ends.
