Former Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has urged Kyiv to prepare logistical frameworks for future post-war elections despite active martial law restrictions.

Former Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has urged authorities in Kyiv to begin technical and administrative preparations for future post-war elections. Fedorov, who was removed from his position by President Volodymyr Zelensky in July, emphasized that establishing logistical frameworks now is vital to ensure soldiers, internally displaced citizens, and refugees living abroad can exercise their voting rights once hostilities cease.

Under Ukrainian law, holding elections during martial law is illegal, and the administration maintains that national defence remains the primary focus. However, Fedorov warned that delaying technical preparation until the conflict ends could significantly postpone democratic processes. President Zelensky's office has shown no intention of altering electoral restrictions while martial law remains in force.
