Former Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov called on Kyiv to prepare logistics for post-war democratic elections despite ongoing martial law restrictions.

Former Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has urged Kyiv to initiate technical preparations for post-war democratic elections, highlighting the need to establish voting frameworks in advance. Fedorov, who was removed from his post by President Volodymyr Zelensky in July, stressed that early administrative organization is crucial to ensure voting access for frontline troops, displaced citizens, and refugees living abroad once fighting stops.

Under current Ukrainian law, holding elections while martial law is active remains prohibited. While Zelensky’s administration continues to prioritize immediate military defense over post-conflict political planning, Fedorov warned that failing to address logistical hurdles now could severely delay democratic processes after the war ends.
