Aleš Čeh and Jan Mlakar reflect on their careers and Slovenian football ahead of the NK Maribor vs Olimpija Ljubljana derby.

Former Slovenian international players Aleš Čeh and Jan Mlakar have shared insights regarding their football careers and the domestic league landscape ahead of the derby between NK Maribor and Olimpija Ljubljana.

Čeh, who captained Slovenia during its qualification for major international tournaments, discussed his post-playing career in coaching. After retiring as a player, he served as an assistant to head coach Srečko Katanec for over a decade, which included a seven-year coaching period in Asia.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old forward Jan Mlakar reflected on his third return to NK Maribor. Despite being born in Ljubljana, Mlakar clarified he was "never close to Olimpija" and voiced strong confidence in Maribor's leadership under Zlatko Zahović and Darko Milanič. Mlakar added that upcoming derby matches provide an ideal setting for struggling opponents to reset their form.
