Slovenian football figures Aleš Čeh and Jan Mlakar have reflected on their career trajectories and shared views ahead of the eternal derby between NK Maribor and Olimpija Ljubljana.

Former Slovenian national team captain Aleš Čeh and striker Jan Mlakar have shared insights into their careers and domestic football ahead of the derby between NK Maribor and Olimpija Ljubljana.

Čeh reflected on his post-playing career, which included a decade serving as assistant manager to Srečko Katanec, highlighted by seven years coaching in Asia. Despite his past associations with Olimpija Ljubljana and Austrian club Grazer AK, Čeh emphasized his ongoing respect for Maribor.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old forward Mlakar discussed his third stint with Maribor. The Ljubljana-born player addressed past speculation, clarifying that he was never in talks to join hometown rivals Olimpija. Addressing Olimpija's current internal difficulties, Mlakar noted that derby fixtures offer struggling teams an opportunity to regain momentum. He also reaffirmed his confidence in former Maribor leadership figures Zlatko Zahovič and Darko Milanič.
