Former Slovenian players Aleš Čeh and Jan Mlakar share insights on their careers and assess the upcoming fixture between NK Maribor and Olimpija Ljubljana.
Former Slovenian national team captain Aleš Čeh and forward Jan Mlakar have reflected on their careers ahead of the upcoming fixture between NK Maribor and Olimpija Ljubljana.
Čeh, who captained Slovenia under former manager Srečko Katanec, discussed his transition into coaching after his playing career ended. He served as Katanec's assistant for over ten years, including a seven-year stint in Asia. Although Čeh remains strongly attached to Olimpija and Austrian club GAK, he expressed lasting respect for Maribor.
Meanwhile, 27-year-old forward Jan Mlakar has returned to Maribor for his third spell at the club. Commenting on the upcoming match, Mlakar noted that although Olimpija is navigating an internal crisis, struggling rivals remain unpredictable and dangerous in derby clashes.
