Five killed in Russian regions as Ukraine expands long-range drone campaign

Ukraine launched widespread drone attacks targeting Russian energy infrastructure, resulting in five deaths, while Russian strikes hit Kharkiv and Kyiv.
Ukraine has launched hundreds of drones against targets deep inside Russia, striking an export terminal in the Rostov region as well as oil infrastructure in Yaroslavl and Udmurt. Russian regional authorities reported five deaths from the strikes in Rostov, including a married couple and a child.
The operation aligns with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s strategy to expand long-range strikes to force Moscow toward peace talks. The campaign follows earlier attacks on Russian logistics hubs that reportedly caused over $1 billion in damage.
Concurrently, Russian air strikes struck Ukrainian cities overnight, killing a woman and injuring nine in Kharkiv, while injuring three in Kyiv. Ukrainian officials also reported that Moscow intends to station 30,000 North Korean troops in the Voronezh region alongside newly supplied ballistic missile launchers.
