Evacuations begin under US-mediated temporary ceasefire in Oleshky

A temporary ceasefire in the occupied Ukrainian town of Oleshky has taken effect to evacuate trapped civilians following mediation by US First Lady Melania Trump.
A localized humanitarian ceasefire brokered through mediation by US First Lady Melania Trump has taken effect in the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky, situated along the Dnipro River in Ukraine's Kherson region.
The operational pause began at 4:00 a.m. Moscow time on October 27, following announcements by the White House and Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov. The agreement aims to facilitate the safe evacuation of trapped elderly civilians who faced extreme shortages of food and essential supplies while stuck between opposing forces.
Statements from the First Lady's office indicated that Melania Trump acted as the sole mediator directly negotiating the terms between Ukrainian and Russian officials to establish the humanitarian corridor.
